Building DIY Camping Toilet

I never imagined myself finding the need for one of these. But after having 2 daughters the benefits of doing this outweighed the cons. It's a lot of work to help a 3-4 year old girl go to the bathroom in the woods.

Step 1 - Find a good location

Supplies Required: 5 gal Bucket and Toilet Seat

Tools Required: Shovel

Step 2 - Remove bottom of bucket

Step 3 - Dig a Hole

Step 4 - Place seat on bucket

Step 5 - Use

Couldn't get any more luxurious

Step 6 - Remove bucket and place in heavy duty garbage bag (this step was actually less painful than expected)

Step 7 - Bury and return to previous condition

Overall it took me 15-20 min for setup and take down. Definitely worth the painless bathroom visits with the little ones. The women in the group appreciated it as well.

  1. One summer without a camping trip was enough for us to realise we really are a camping family. Camping tent site
